Poem.

He sat atop the corral fence post.
Tipping his Stetson to the rising pink sun.
Strumming his guitar humming a melody.
Pain in his life but never would he run.

He sang of a lady he loved with every breath
Loved with every strum of his thumping heart.
She loved someone else. She never knew of him.
Their journey never would even start.

He would never know the softness of her hair
Never know loves tantalizing kiss.
Softly velvet fingers plucked at the strings.
Love’s song yearning only for this.

His jeweled blue eyes searched the dusty plains.
He sang of hawks soaring high of white clouds so still.
Of riding upon tooled leather, of roping, of wild mustang.
Sang of mountains and green rolling hills.

All through the heat of the dusty day
He sat the cowboy and his guitar.
He sang and strummed letting his heart beat slowly.
Letting his spirit his soul his, life drift afar.

The nightlight of heaven rose into the velvet twinkling sky.
He watched a silhouette appear out from the dark.
The shapely figure gracefully wandered his way.
Heart’s skipping kindled loves flame. Her hand to his gave a spark.

Hoofs beat fiercely through their flesh. Moonlight stroked their skin.
Loves mystery rose in their souls raging high tides.
Watchful night’s breeze bellowed through the cowboys hair.
Tugging on his hearts reins Love now deeply rides.

The landscape of love he thought would never come to be.
Now sat on the corral post next to thee.
Tranquil now all of his life looking to the northern star.
She was his eternity her and the cowboys guitar.
