Author’s Note: This story was inspired by the song- “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You” by Heart. It’s always been a favorite of mine because I can see the song’s imagery clearly in my mind. The lyrics are italicized.

The sequel to this story is All I Wanna Do Is Be Close To You.

It was a rainy night when he came into sight. Standing by the road, no umbrella, no coat. So I pulled up alongside and I offered him a ride. He accepted with a smile…

I pushed open the passenger door and he jumped in. He was soaked from head to toe. A beam of moonlight shined through the windshield highlighting the wet ringlets at the ends of his dark hair.

It was late November in Los Angeles, around midnight and the temperature hovered around 45 degrees. It was way too cold for this guy to be out here without a coat. His drenched clothes consisted of a red cotton shirt that clung to his well-defined chest, showing two erect nipples, jeans, and blue sneakers.

He glanced at me for a moment to say, “thank you,” then stared straight ahead, brooding. He was very handsome, with cobalt eyes and I sensed a smoldering sexuality that intrigued and excited me.

“So, where ya headed?” I asked to lighten the mood.

Without looking at me, he shrugged. I could tell he didn’t want to talk, but I had questions. Why the hell was he on the road all alone, in the middle of the night, in a rain storm?

“Look buddy, I need to know where you want me to take you?”

He sighed and glanced at me. “I dunno where I want you to take me. I can’t go home.”

The rain continued to fall hard and loud, pounding on the roof of the car. I could barely make out what he said, but at least I got him talking.

“Why can’t you go home? If you don’t mind me asking, what happened? Why are you out here like this?”

He glanced me again with pained eyes. “I was driving back to my apartment with my girlfriend, and we had a fight.”

“What was the fight about?”

When he didn’t answer, I looked at him and he was shivering. “I’m so sorry– the heater in my car is busted. I think I have a blanket in the back.” I leaned back and rummaged through all of the junk I had in the back seat, until I found it. “Here, put this around you,” I said, handing him the blanket.

He took it, wrapped it around his shoulders and covered his head. “Thanks,” he replied, through chattering teeth.

“Don’t mention it. So, what was the fight about?” I asked, needing him to finish.

The dark-haired man waited until his teeth stopped chattering, before he continued. “We were at a party that my girlfriend’s friend was having. I saw my girlfriend talkin’ to this guy. They were standin’ really close and it looked like he was nuzzling her neck. She started giggling, so I went over to see what was goin on. I pushed him away from her and he took a swing at me and missed, but when I swung back…I didn’t.”

He looked at me with a smug expression.

“What happened after that?” I was very interested in how this ended, even though I had a feeling I knew.

He pulled the blanket tighter around his head and shoulders. “Well, we tussled a bit and her friend’s place got kinda messed up. She got really angry and threw the both of us out. My girlfriend was really pissed, and we had a screaming match in the car. She said she wasn’t doing anything and that I was a jealous jerk. I accused her of flirtin’ and wanting to cheat on me.”

“Wow,” I said, remembering similar fights Van and I have had.

“Yeah and do ya know what she did next?” he asked, getting more and more agitated.

I was about to say, ‘threw you out of the car,’ but I wanted him to say it. “No what?”

“The bitch threw me out of the car…my own car, mind you!”

He was enraged and to tell the truth, it was a little scary. It was obvious that he was an incredibly intense man. His deep blue eyes had fire behind them as he relived the incident. The curly haired man was so heated from rage that he didn’t seem to be cold anymore and took the blanket off his head and shoulders.

“That’s horrible. So she just left you on the side of the road and drove off with your car?”

“Yeah. She walked around, got in the driver seat, and took off, leaving me stranded in a rain storm with no coat, cause I left it in the back seat.”

I watched as his anger subsided and he returned to brooding, pulling the blanket over his head and around his shoulders again. It told me that he was done with this conversation.

Suddenly, I sensed a sexual tension in the air. Maybe it was just me reacting to his intense anger, but it did make me wonder though, how this man would be as a lover. I have to admit that thought made my cock jump. I sat for a moment imaging the two of us in the heat of passion…fucking each other’s brains out.

Even though I was wearing a parka, I began to feel a chill as a result of sitting in an idle car and the rain still coming down hard. I glanced at my riding companion, and he was trembling again, so I started up the car.

So we drove for a while. I didn’t ask him his name, this lonely boy in the rain. Fate, tell me it’s right, is this love at first sight?

I turned towards him. “Look, the rain is still comin’ down pretty hard which makes driving dangerous.”

He peered at me from under the blanket, with big soulful blue eyes. God he looked adorable and sexy at the same time.

“What do you think of us staying at a hotel for the night? By morning I’m sure the rain would have stopped,” I explained, smiling at him.

He covered his head again and cozied up to the passenger door. “I really don’t care man. I’m freezing and just want to get out of this cold.”

I could hear his teeth chattering as he spoke, and I knew I had to get him someplace warm before he caught hypothermia.

We drove in silence until I felt his eyes on me, so I looked at him. “What?”

“What’s your story?” he asked, keeping his head covered.

I brought my eyes back to the road. “My story?”

“Yeah. Why are you drivin’ out here alone at this time of night?” His tone was challenging, as if he were getting back at me for asking him all those questions earlier.

He was stared at me with those intense eyes that went straight to my cock. I turned my attention back to the road before we had an accident.

“Well,” I began, sucking in my bottom lip and raking my front teeth across, making a popping sound. “As a matter of fact, I got into an argument with my partner too. The only thing is– she’s my wife.”

My moody companion sat up. “So what happened?”

“We were always fighting. Seems like she was always angry about something.”

“What was this one about?”

I smile– finding his interest amusing. “Basically the same argument we seem to have over and over. She hates my job and says I need to get a better one or she’s gonna leave me,” I explained, feeling a little despondent from the memory.

“What’s your job?”

“I’m a cop.” I looked at him for a reaction.

He chuckled.

“What’s funny?”

“My girl is studying to be in law enforcement, but she’s not sure what she’ll do,” he explained.

“Really? That’s somethin’. By the way, what do you do? Do you have a job?” I asked.

When he didn’t answer right away, I saw him glaring at me. “What?”

“Of course I have a job. What, you think I’m some kind of dead beat or somethin’?” he asked, indignantly.

“Sorry. I didn’t mean to imply…”

He cut me off. “It’s okay. Well, I did a stint in the army and now I drive a cab. Laura, that’s my girlfriend’s name, suggested I go into law enforcement too, but I told her I didn’t know. So, you’re a cop, huh? She didn’t like it cause it’s dangerous?”

“Something like that,” I say, not really wanting to go into it. I mean, if the night goes the way I’d like it to, it won’t be necessary for him to know that anyway.

So we found this hotel. It was a place I knew well.

I pulled up in the parking lot of The Biltmore Hotel in L.A. “We’re here,” I announced.

My dark-haired companion straightened up. “Where’s here?”

“The Biltmore Hotel. My wife and I stayed here once, and it was pretty nice.”

“Just as long as there’s heat,” he said blowing into his hands and rubbing them together. Then he peered out the window. “I can’t believe it’s still comin’ down.” He frowned.

“Yeah,” I agreed, watching the drops as they pummeled the pavement. “Ya think we can make a run for it?”

“Yeah,” he said, reading himself for the sprint to the hotel entrance.

“Okay. On three…one, two…three!” I shouted, pushing open the car door and heading for the entrance, with my handsome companion right on my heels.

We stopped short at the entrance, both panting hard.

“We…made it,” I said, trying to catch my breath.

“We did and without getting too wet. I guess you could say we dodged the raindrops,” he grinned, gasping.

This was the first time he smiled, and it made him look even more handsome if that was possible. His smile lit up his whole face and went straight to his now– bright blue eyes. I found myself staring at him and when he noticed, something exchanged between us. We looked or should I say, gazed into each other’s eyes a bit longer than most straight men would be comfortable with.

Ya see, yes I’m married, but I’m also attracted to men…gorgeous men like my comrade here. I’ve only acted on it once when I was at the police academy. Come to think of it, that guy had curly hair too, like my soon to be roommate. The only difference was that he was taller, and his hair was a light brown. I guess you can say I have a type. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to do it again, but never found another man that I was interested in…accept for now of course.

“Can we please go inside?” he asked, pulling the damp blanket tighter around his body.

“Yeah… sorry.” I pulled the door open for him and he dashed inside.

He followed me to the front desk, and we were greeted by a friendly young man.

“Hello! Welcome to The Biltmore Hotel! We’re here to please,” he said, a little too exuberantly.

My hopefully soon to be lover rolled his eyes and turned his back.

“Um…yes. We’d like a room,” I told him.

The man looked from me to my shivering compadre, wrapped in a blanket. Suddenly his cheery disposition faded. I guess he sensed sexual tension from us, who knows.

“Is there a problem?” I asked, in a none too cheerful tone that made my company turn around.

“How long will you be staying with us?” The desk clerk said looking down at his registration book.

“Oh, just one night,” I said, grinning when the clerk looked up at me with a shocked look on his face.

My companion was watching him with a smirk. Was he smirking because he was siding with me about the clerk’s obvious homophobic attitude?

After checking us in, we were escorted to our room. When the bellboy asked if we had any luggage, I said ‘no’ and that got us another disapproving look.

Once we arrived, and the bellboy opened the door, my dark-haired companion rushed pass, dropped the blanket and dashed into the bathroom. The bellhop gave me the grand tour of the room, then held out his hand.

I noticed it only had one king sized bed. “There’s only one bed.”

“Will that be a problem?” he asked, smirking, with his hand still out.

I glared at him, then dug into my jeans and pulled out two quarters and handed them to him. He didn’t look too pleased and left the room in a huff. I’m usually not so cheap when I tip the help, but this guy didn’t have any bags to deal with and he gave us the stink eye, so in my opinion that’s all he deserved.

I heard the toilet flush, and he exited the bathroom zipping up his fly.

“Hey Blondie, I wanted to let you know that if I hadn’t left my wallet in my coat, I would have helped you pay for the hotel,” he said, somewhat ashamed.

He’s not the first person to give me that nickname. It’s a common and obvious name to give a fair-haired person. “It’s okay Curly.” I grinned. Of course, I felt the need to give him one, so I chose an obvious one also.

Neither one of us wanted to tell the other our real names and that’s the way I wanted it. I didn’t want to ask him for his and I was glad he hasn’t asked me for mine. If anything were to happen in this room tonight, I wanted it to be a totally anonymous encounter, no exchanging of names, no identities, just two men enjoying each other’s company. Hopefully he felt the same way.

He glanced at the bed. “There’s only one bed.”

From the expression on his face, I knew it didn’t bother him. He was stating a fact and wanted to know what I thought of it.

“Yeah…um…I don’t think they had any double rooms.” I tell him that realizing I didn’t even inquire about it.

“Oh, I see. Hey, do you mind if I get outta these wet clothes and into a hot shower? I’m still a little chilled to the bone,” he said, rubbing his hands up and down his arms.

“Get outta your…clothes. Um, yes– that’s actually a great idea,” I said a bit too enthusiastically. “I’ll turn up the thermostat too.”

“Terrific! I won’t be long.”

I watched him jog into the bathroom and shut the door. After setting the room to a comfortable temperature, I threw myself into the nearest chair and sighed. I stared at the ceiling, then I closed my eyes.

Please don’t make it wrong, just stay for the night. All I wanna do is make love to you. Say you will want me, too. All I wanna do is make love to you. I’ve got lovin’ arms to hold on to.

I must have fallen asleep, because the next thing I knew, he was calling me.

“Blondie!”

I opened my eyes to an astonishing sight. My beautiful stranger was standing in only a small towel wrapped around his narrow hips. A portion of his upper thigh and hip were exposed by the separation of the towel. I carefully scanned every inch of his body– from his attractive face to the hairy chest that accentuated his pecs and chiseled abdomen, very nicely.

When I came out of my reverie, he was ogling me. I hoped he couldn’t see the flush on my face or the bulge in my jeans.

We held each other’s gaze for a moment more, then his eyes traveled down my body and came to rest on my boner. He put them back on my face.

“Um…I just wanted to tell ya that I’m done with the shower in case you wanted to take one.”

“Oh y-yeah. Thanks,” I raced into the bathroom and shut the door a little too loudly.

While in the stall, I contemplated rubbing one out in the shower, but what if he wants us to make love. If that were the case, I might not be able to get it up again so quickly. But if I’m wrong, I’d go out there with a massive-hard on and be totally mortified.

From the looks he’s been giving me, I don’t think I’m wrong, so I decided to also wrap one of the smaller towels around my waist and exit the bathroom. I came out timidly with my head down and slowly brought it up to find him lying on the bed completely naked. My eyes went right to the massive hard-on he was also sporting.

He leisurely stroked himself while he stared at me with a wicked smile on his face. “I saw the way you’ve been starin’ at me. You want this Blondie?”

I swallowed hard and was finding it difficult to breathe. “Yes, b-but you have a girlfriend?”

“Yeah and you have a wife. So what. They don’t have to ever know. We haven’t told each other our names, so we’re basically strangers, right?”

“I suppose, but are you gay?”

“Does that matter to you?”

“No. I’m just curious.”

“Labels, labels. Okay, I like men and women, so I guess that makes me bisexual. How bout you?”

I chuckle nervously. “Me too.”

“Good,” he said, getting off the bed and padding towards me, with his cock bobbing with each step. He stopped in front of me and stood so close that our noses touched. I could feel his cock pushing into my groin, which was still covered by terry cloth– but soon that would be a thing of the past, as he ripped it off my hips.

Now our cocks were doing battle as our mouths devoured one another’s and our hands explored new territory. He broke the kiss, took my hand, and led me to the bed. After pushing me back on the mattress with a bounce, he crawled on top of me and soon arms and legs entwined, and the sounds of desire filled the room.

Ooh, we made love. Love like strangers. We made magic that night. Oh, he did everything right. He brought the man out of me so many times, easily. All night long we made love.

In the morning when he woke, all I left him was a note:

I told him I am the flower, you are the seed. We walked in the garden, we planted a tree. Don’t try to find me, please don’t you dare. Just live in my memory, you’ll always be there.

I also left him money for a cab, then walked out…out of our lives and went back to mine. I made up for the thousandth time with Van and we tried to make a go of it…again.

Then it happened one day. We came ‘round the same way. You can imagine his surprise. When he saw his own eyes.

Van and I were at the annual policeman’s ball and I spotted him with a woman, who I assumed was the girlfriend he mentioned. I stared until he locked eyes with me.

I excused myself from Van, telling her I had to use the restroom and walked towards him. He said something to his girlfriend and left her. I gestured with my head for him to go to the men’s room and he followed me inside.

“Oh my God! I can’t believe it’s you!” he shouted embracing me, then abruptly moved back. “Ya know, I should be really mad at you for leaving like that, but I’m really happy to see you after all these years.” He came at me again and looked like he was about to kiss me, so this time it was my turn to step back.

“What are you doin here!” I shouted in a whisper.

He blinked at me. “I think I told you, my girlfriend was studying to be in law enforcement. She’s been an officer for three years now and she gets invited to this every year.”

His greeting still had me wondering if he still wanted me.

Please, please understand I’m in love with my wife and what she couldn’t give me, oh-oh was the one little thing that you can

There was shock and pain in his beautiful indigo eyes. It hurt me to see that, but he had to know the truth and to be honest, I thought he already knew.

He looked away, then back into my eyes, with an earnest gaze.

“You got this all-wrong Blondie. I’m gonna ask that woman out there to be my wife and I don’t plan on cheating on her. What we had is in the past and like you said in your note– I’ll live in your memory and will always be there. I feel exactly the same way.”

He stepped closer and grasped my hand, with unshed tears coating the blue eyes. He brought my hand to his lips, kissing it gently and that tender gesture brought tears to my eyes. I nodded my understanding.

Just as he was about to go out the door, he turned back…

“Hey, since we’re never gonna see each other again, how about saying our real names?”

I watched him walk back to me.

“Dave Starsky. It’s nice to meet you,” he said, extending his hand.

I smiled and shook his. “Ken Hutchinson, nice to meet you too.”

We shook hands, as if we were meeting for the first time and in a way we were. When we let go, I could see sorrow in his eyes, and I knew he saw it in mine.

Dave Starsky blew me a kiss, winked, and walked out of the bathroom.

One night of love was all we knew.

The End
