Hutch tries to be there for Starsky after the loss of Terri.
Companion piece to ‘Worn Out by Sadness‘.
I wish I could do more.
I wish I could take away the pain from him, but that’s impossible. So I’ll do what I can: give him space; keep clueless people away; make sure he’s still eating; pass him a coffee when he gets that blank look on his face – to remind him to drink and to remind him that he’s not alone; listen when he wants to talk; let him be quiet when he needs to be quiet; just be there for him.
What else can I do?
He looks so tired all the time. I wish I could give him back his zest for life but I guess he’ll get that back in time. These things can’t be rushed. The heart heals at its own pace. I know that all too well.
It’s been a long week. I’m glad the weekend is coming up but I wonder if Starsky is anticipating it in the same way. Weekends had been a chance to spend time with Terri and now she’s gone. I know I miss her but life must seem very empty to Starsk.
How can I soften the weekend for him so it doesn’t drag?
Maybe it would do him good to get away? Yes, I think it would. I’ll do some research, see if I can find somewhere that’s right – somewhere where he can hide if he wants to or have some fun and relax if he feels like it.
“Oh buddy, I feel your pain. I wish I could do more.”
