you sit and look at me and know i’m dyin’…
Originally published in the Starsky and Hutch gen anthology zine LA Vespers 1 in 1979.
you sit and look at me and know i’m dyin’
and i sit and look at you and know you’re goin’ to live
and neither of us knows what the hell to do about it
you feel guilty that i’m the one who bought it
and i feel awful that you’re feelin’ that way
and neither of us can change the way we feel
you keep lookin’ at the time
and i’m afraid to look at the time
and neither of us can slow down that piece of shit on the wall
you’re tearin’ up your guts with my pain
and i’m having trouble watchin’ your sufferin’
and neither of us can walk away from the truth
you’d take my place in a second
and i’d never let you in a million years
and neither of us wants the other to be left alone
