And I sat there, remembering
THE WAY WE WERE….
The confidence, vitality and fun
Strength given and received,
And, corollary of each new day,
Awareness of potential loss.
Awareness, too, that some things do not fade,
But grow and deepen through enriching years:
Steadfastness, sharing,
Being there for you
and you for me,
Loyalty and loving, now
Restored and re-discovered
A new dimension then
in this – the last reprieve? –
Clear-sighted recognition
of all we have….
Known before, now shaping all our days
All minutes precious,
Every hour a gift.
