While recovering from Gunther’s shooting, Starsky has been living with Hutch. But Starsky is completely recovered now and Hutch is concerned that Starsky might want to move out and resume an independent life. When his grandmother in Duluth grows close to death, Hutch travels to see her, and spends time with his family, pondering, in Starsky’s absence, what it might be like to not have his friend as such a significant part of his life.
