The boys have fun at Huggy’s.
Starsky ducked, laughing as Hutch threw the soapy cloth. “Missed me!”
Hutch started to back away laughing as Starsky hefted a soapy dripping sponge.
“Yeah, but he didn’t miss me.”
Both men stopped and looked at each other wide eyed, then turned to face the angry voice coming from behind the bar.
“Oops!” Hutch guiltily put down the other bar cloth he had been about to throw, wincing as it splashed loudly into the sink.
Huggy glared at them as he pulled the sodden cloth away from his now soaked shirt. “‘Oops?’ Is that all you cats have to say? Look at my bar!”
Both men glanced guiltily at the mess they had made during their impromptu water fight. “You were supposed to be helpin’ me clean up, not actin’ like a couple of two-year-olds.” Starsky dropped the dripping sponge into the bucket at his feet.
“Sorry, Huggy.”
Hutch shuffled his feet, looking guilty as he wiped some of the water from the bar top. “Yeah, sorry, Huggy.”
Huggy sighed, shaking his head. “Yeah, well, just quit messing around. I’d like to lock up before three am. You guys may have the day off tomorrow, but I don’t. I swear you two are more trouble than my sister’s kids.”
Huggy harrumphed and turned back towards the kitchen, trying not to laugh at the two dripping wet men.
Once through the door, Huggy leaned back against it, a large smile almost cracking his face in two.
It was just like old times. Hutch looked happier and healthier than he had in years. Starsky, the medical miracle, was back on the force, back on the streets, and back being the biggest kid he’d ever known.
They were together again, back to being “Me and Thee,” just as they should be.
