Venice Place Times III was a gen Starsky and Hutch anthology produced in October 2002.

There were four volumes of the Venice Place Times published between 2001 – 2004. It was produced by Venice Place Press editors, Paula Wilshe and Keri T.

Acknowledgments

Last year at this time we were questioning our sanity as we struggled to complete two zines for simultaneous publication. We vowed that we would never be in that position again. True to form, we broke that vow, and ended up with so many incredible stories that to publish them in one volume would have required bonus traction and wrist splints with every order—in other words, this time we’re readying four zines. Possibly we are insane.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to our incredibly talented writers and artists—Val, Carolyn, Lin, Judi, and Julie. You guys have produced unbelievable work, and have been patient and lovely with last minute edits and glitches. What a gifted group you are!

To my partner, Keri, it’s hard to believe that there was a time before we were we, and I don’t know what I would do without you in all facets of my life, although if you suggest that next year we continue the trend and go for six zines at one time, I may be forced to explore that option.

To Rick, who must get tired of having his bedroom decorated in “buddy cop,” but never complains—and who drew the cover sketch of Venice Place, as well as the gorgeous painting of same that hangs over the fireplace.

To D.M.K., again, for the fantastic cover, thank you!

To Barb, whose editing and support skills are utterly stellar—thank you for going above and beyond with so many of the stories.

To our bunkermates, all of whom embody the spirit of what friendship is really about, and thanks and love to (in alphabetical order) Anna, Beth, Cheryl, Christina, Cindy, Denise, Donna, HR3, Judi, Lin (who makes snip trading an art and a pleasure), Lizzie (unaccustomed as she is to public speaking), Sue, Tammy, Vickie—thank you guys for being part of my life.

Last but not least, thank you to Connie, who goes along with me blithely and without reservation, and who has a terrific collection of Perfect Strangers stills to show for it. By next year at this time, your refrigerator will be covered in Starsky and Hutch magnets, I just know it.

Paula

Paula’s right. Of course, as she reminds me whenever I forget, she’s always right. And she is. She’s also this remarkable gift to my life. Physically, we live on opposite sides of the country and it doesn’t matter a damn. It’s day-to-day. It’s a bond as strong as iron. It’s a blessing. I don’t use the word love lightly. I love Paula with all my heart. And she’s always right.

We have incredible writers and artists who have created this zine. Paula has named them and I join her in my admiration and gratitude. Thank you for letting us publish your talent.

Again, I have to mention a few people who just came through in every sense of the word. They know why, because they were on the receiving end of a few S.O.S emails, and they just came through and did it so willingly and cheerfully. Barb, Donna, Sue… thank you. I’m also lucky enough to have a friend who didn’t mind staying up with me almost all night after she’d been at work since 4 a.m., because I needed an audit and some serious hand holding. That would be our amazing illustrator, and my dear friend, Julie. Thank you, ladies.

Fandom is so much about friendships. Thank you Regina, Sue, Julie, Gayle, Scout, Barb, and the wonderful gals in the bunker.

And to the readers. Thank you for wanting more of our zines and for all the amazing support. I hope you enjoy this one.
