Alley cat nine lives to live partner
a small smile upon your face,
humming a nonsense tune in your room,
purring out a melody as you wait for me.
A tender hello echoes down corridors of sorrow.
Mourning that had lodged in my heart
like the bullets that had pierced your flesh
dissolves with the touch of your hand.
If I can hurt this much for love of you,
I can love without regret.
