Yesterday you swept into my life
Held me captive with a touch
Yesterday my heart stirred
Never cherished as dear or much
Yesterday I held you to me
And trusted you with my soul
Yesterday I dreamed of forever
And didn’t fear of growing old
Yesterday you kissed me
With a longing I felt deep inside
Yesterday I loved you
With nothing left to hide
Yesterday hope was destroyed
And the sun fell from the sky
Yesterday you comforted me
And then you said goodbye
Yesterday I knew how to breathe
Yesterday I cared
Yesterday I would have died
Except the burden then was shared.
