Call My SHluff – a game derived from a British 1970s television show Call my Bluff where celebrity contestants took it in turns to define an obscure word. Only one of the definitions was correct, the other two being bluffs. The celebrities had to try to identify the truths.  Can you find the SHtruths and SHluffs for the origins of the quotes here? The answers can be found on page 82.

1:  “The guy may be crazy, but he’s not stupid”

1. a) Long Walk Down a Short Dirt Road Clayborne, SueAnne’s manager over breakfast.
2. b) Strange Justice Hutch arguing with Dobey about who is the hostage and who the killer.
3. c) The Avenger Hutch telling Starsky that he won’t be able to make Harry jealous.

2: “You got it sweetheart”

1. a) Hostages Starsky to Meg when she wants him to negotiate with her parents.
2. b) JoJo Hutch to JoJo in Stella’s cafe warning him off Linda.
3. c) The Trap Starsky to Joey making a date to go for pizza after they get out of the barn.

3: “You any ideas what we can do about this?”

1. a) Bust Amboy Dobey to Starsky and Hutch telling them they look ill and must take a sick day.
2. b) The Avenger in the kitchen, the voice of Harry to Marlene.
3. c) Las Vegas Strangler Hutch wanting Starsky to give him the stake money to look after.

6) “Could you wait a minute?”

1. a) Bloodbath Starsky to Hutch at Merle’s right at the beginning.
2. b) Vampire Hutch to Starsky just before eating the garlic in the hall at the precinct.
3. c) Deadly Imposter Emil, burning his receipts as Starsky and Hutch knock on his door.

7) “Huggy, I told you”

1. a) Huggy Can’t Go Back, JT Washington to Huggy arguing about the past.
2. b) Kill Huggy Bear, Dewey Hughes arguing with Huggy about returning the stolen money.

10) “What’s he talking about?”

1. a) The Committee, Dobey to Hutch when Starsky goes back to find his pet rock.
2. b) Snowstorm, Starsky to Hutch when Striker wants the extra million dollars of cocaine back.
3. c) Death Ride, Starsky to Hutch as they learn that Linda Williams is not Andrew Mello’s daughter.
