Susan’s wonderful drabbles inspired me to give it a shot.
Starsky’d been a prick all day. Said my muffler’s tail pipe was dragging. Fine, fix it, I said. Then we cruised all the usual places, finally found Kiko, I made my pitch and that was that.
Starsky was less sullen afterwards. I guess whatever’d made him such a pain in the ass was wearing off. I dropped him at the Torino and came home.
Before I went inside, I checked the back end of my car. He hadn’t touched the tailpipe, but somebody had glued on a homemade bumper sticker.
“Cops Need Love Too.”
So I called Starsky and apologized.
