If death had been the end, Starsky could have accepted it.
He would have hated it—but he would have accepted it. Instead, it was so fleeting, a longer than normal pause between breaths. Between pain.
Between existence and something else. Something so intangible, so remote, he couldn’t stay.
This was not where he was meant to be. He had not finished with life. There were things to be resolved.
Things to be explored. With Hutch.
More than the pain, more than the force of the paddles on his chest, he felt Hutch.
Reached out and knew Hutch. Found home.
