Twined Together

Poem.

Two saplings stand alone. Fields of wild flowers their solemn home.
Years go by as they grow. Nothing changing nothing known.

Then one day they slowly bend. Reaching toward each other godsend.
Through the years they combine. Twist and grow by and by.

Till one day two become one. Roots are solid life’s wells being spun.
Two willows once alone. Now together solid as a stone.

There is no rhyme there is no reason. Twined together through the seasons.
Withstanding any kind of weather. Holding each other up forever and ever.

Through the wind and the rain. Through the ice storms and the pain.
Branches weeping to the ground. Protection seeping all around.

If lightning should strike and one should die. Leaves and branches would wilt from the sky.
One left standing all alone. One left standing not being whole.

Spring would come and flowers bloom. One alone encased in its tomb.
For roots this deep and trunks so combined. One left alone would be too unkind.

Skies stay blue and the sun will shine. Their trunks together completely aligned.
Together forever in this field. Together forever hearts are sealed.

By and by the years will flow. By and by the willows grow.
Till one day when the north winds change. They die together as prearranged.

They’re with god now in holy lands. Sheltered from life’s cruel hands.
Happy together as it should be. Loving each other me and thee.
