I look at you, lying there sated, spent and
You take my breath away.
The moonlight touches you as I did moments ago
The gentle touch of a silver lover and
You take my breath away.
The hassles of the job, the heartbreak of our failures,
Too many in contrast with too few success,
And yet behind closed doors the pressure eases.
The pain melts away in the heat of our passion and
You take my breath away.
You make me fearful sometimes, in my need for you.
I worry that I’ll hold you too tightly and like quicksilver,
You’ll slip away, tired of my insecurities, or I’ll
Be too late or misjudge and a bullet will take you.
And if it does, when you breathe your last,
It will take my breath away.
