These are heady times for S&H fans! Seasons 1 and 2 have been out on DVD for a while, and Season 3 has just been released this month. What a wealth of riches! The walk around the porch from Class in Crime (not to mention all those other incredibly slashy moments in that ep!)—Satan’s Witches’ red long johns—Hutchinson for Murder One—Death in a Different Place—Hutch wearing black in The Trap! Let’s not even talk about using the zoom function for the walk around the porch, because if we start talking about that, I’ll never get this zine finished!

For those of you who came in late, the Dangerous Lives, Dangerous Visions zines are based on a theme. The theme is eclectic, granted, but basically, this is a zine for writers who produce stories that some fans might take offense at, or simply don’t like. Who gets to decide what constitutes a “Dangerous Vision”? Well, usually the writer does, by sending me the story. Some writers feel that any story with conflict is “dangerous,” but if the story is a good one that most editors would enjoy, I will encourage the writer to send it to someone else. So, ultimately, I make the decision on the story’s suitability after reviewing it. Some of the themes familiar to DLDV readers are death stories, partner betrayal, stories that feature one of the boys with a lover other than his partner, bdsm themes, stories that feature unusual erotic themes, and, often, stories that are considered “dark,” or that don’t have happy endings. This doesn’t mean, however that DLDV zines are only full of darkly intense humorless stories not for the faint of heart.

In this volume we have a wide range of story types including several humor pieces, some sweetly romantic stories, some highly erotic stories, death stories, stories with a twist, and, yes, some darkly intense stories. I wonder if seeing the boys in recent appearances together in conjunction with the Stiller S&H movie has generated interest in “older” Starsky & Hutch, as several stories in this zine reflect that. That’s fine with me—I love them at any age!

The DLDV zines are notorious in one aspect—the dearth of LOCs I receive about them. Compared to the number of zines I sell, returning comments are few and far between. To those of you who have contacted me (or the writers directly), I am very grateful.

And I don’t mind at all hearing about what you didn’t like. An LOC isn’t meant to be about praise, it’s about commentary, the good and the bad.

If the stories in this zine interest you, and you’ve always been tempted to write that certain story that your friends never want you to talk about, I’d love to see it. And for those of you who’ve been asking, I’d love to put out another AU slash zine, as well. So if there’s been an idea you’ve been playing around with in an alternate universe, get it written! I’m telling you, we need more leather codpieces in S&H! Go watch Satan’s Witches or Class in Crime on DVD and get inspired!
