Silliness inspired by reading The Owl and The Pussycat, with huge apologies to Edward Lear.

Hutch and Starsky hit the streets
In a shiny red Torino.
They arrested some gamblers with plenty of money
Playing craps in the back of a club.

Then Hutch looked up at the smog above
And sang to a small guitar.
O wonderful Starsky, O Starsky my love
What a handsome detective you are
You are
You are
What a handsome detective you are!

Starsky said to Hutch “You’re great in a clutch,
How like David Soul you sing.
Oh, let us be married!” And the gamblers all queried,
“But what will they do for a ring?

They drove away for a week and a day
To The Pits where the beer flows clear
And there at the bar Huggy Bear stood
With a ring in the lobe of his ear
His ear
His ear
With a ring in the lobe of his ear.

“Hey, Hug,” they holler, “will you sell
For one dollar, your ring?”
Said Huggy, “It’s yours.”
So they took it away and were married that day
By Dobey who paced cross the floor.

They ate a meal made of linguini and stuffed veal
Which they ate with a runcible spoon
And knee to knee, by the edge of the sea
They threw their badges away
Away
Away
They threw their badges away.
