Every other year we hold a fan-run Starsky and Hutch slash con, called SHareCon. In the tradition of SHareCons held before ours, we put out a small free zine for every con. Contributors are either attending or supporting members of the con. As we do with most zines, we will present the stories as they appeared in the zine.

INTRODUCTION
Cyanne’s Ramblings:
I’m still not quite sure how I wound up doing this. Mama Bird only told me after I’d agreed to help with the zine layout that the job including writing the introduction. She’s a sneaky bird.
I’m thrilled to be part of this crazy convention, even if I’m still trying to figure out how it happened. My first con ever was the 2002 SHarecon. I was scared to death walking in the door; I knew a grand total of two people in real life and had talked to a few others on line but that was it. By Friday night of the con I was comfortable and by Sunday afternoon I was really home. Starsky & Hutch was the first fandom that I made friends in and it truly is one of the nicest fandoms around.
So at SHareCon 2006 we mark 31 years of Starsky and Hutch love. Yes, I can say we, I may have gotten here late, but I got here. One of the timeless joys of this fandom is that it welcomes fans old and young, those who watched it on the first go round, and those who found the guys in the TNT reruns or the 2004 movie. The boys live on, and we get to celebrate that in a long weekend full of panels and eps and games and vids and late night conversations. We have beautiful artwork and creative zines, including the one you’re holding right now. Thanks to all the writers and artists who shared their incredible talents to give us the state of the fandom in 2006, we have contributions showing our Starsky and Hutch in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, in chaos and in silliness but always together through it all.
I have the privilege of being one of the CONspirators led by the one and only Flamingo and featuring these fine women who make it all work:

Enjoy the zine and the weekend. Rumor has it we’re doing this again in 2008. I can’t wait to see what we come up with next.
From the Bird’s BeakI can tell you how you ended up doing this, Cyanne. You volunteered. Of course… you may have been slightly influenced by that lovely herb I put into your tea–
Cyanne’s done a terrific job with the zine. The SHareCon zine is supposed to be a snapshot of the fandom at this time, and I’d say that’s a good description of this one. The zine has a sampling of some of the best writers active today, including a number of Paula Wilshe Award finalists and winners.
The con can only be what the fans make it. And by the looks of the zine, I’d have to say it’s shaping up to be a great time. For all the new and old fans who come to S&H for love and laughter and the belief that true love is eternal, I hope you have a great time at SHareCon.
Enjoy the zine, tell Cyanne what a great job she did, and know that any errors within happened while I produced it.

Get Thee Behind Me

Hutch, prepared for death and then not dying, said the ocean robbed him of perspective. Finding the horizon, terminus for sea and sky, far too finite for his taste.
Thinking ‘flat line’ with a shudder, Starsky humored him, held him, kissed the crest of Hutch’s head where new hair staked its tentative claim.
“Let’s take a ride,” he ventured; Route 5 north — twenty hours all told — finding a mountaintop in Washington high enough for him to take the plunge.
“Look, Hutch… I’m laying the whole world at your feet.”
Hutch loved the way the Devil got into his partner sometimes.

S&H reference on the show “The Invisible Man”
Darien, the Invisible Man, is going insane due to Quicksilver Madness, cause by his invisibility gland because he didn’t get the counter-agent on time. His friends have to stop him and inject the counter-agent into him. Hobbes is his partner, and Claire is the doctor who helps him. At this point in the show, Darien is insane, ready to set a priest on fire. Hobbes has a gun trained on Darien and Claire has the injection ready in a dart gun.
Darien, sounding disappointed: “Hobbes, please. What’s up with this? Starsky never drew on Hutch.”
Hobbes: “Obviously you never saw the episode where Hutch goes Stage Five Quicksilver nuts, did ya?”
Darien: “No, I didn’t. How’d it turn out?”
Claire: “He recovers.” She shoots him with the dart.
