ShareCon 2004 Zine

Every other year we hold a fan-run Starsky and Hutch slash con, called SHareCon. In the tradition of SHareCons held before ours, we put out a small free zine for every con. Contributors are either attending or supporting members of the con. As we do with most zines, we will present the stories as they appeared in the zine.

Throwing another SHareCon is like going back to college. I’m always late for everything and I find myself staying up all night to meet my deadlines! If the congoers start handing me evaluations and grades, I’m gonna be in big trouble! This year’s SHareCon seems to be more frenetic than the last two, or maybe it’s just my poor memory telling me that. Real life has been especially rough this year, and there hasn’t been much time to have fun sharing our fandom. Which is too bad, considering all the great things that have been happening in Starsky and Hutch this year. But, hey, that’s why we have a SHareCon every two years! To refocus our S&H batteries for times like this.

The new movie put out by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson has its own fans, but whether you love it or hate it, it gave those of us who adore the TV show reason to celebrate. Season One and Two are already out on DVD, and we’re hearing rumors that Season Three may be out by next March. The DVDs are beautiful! Also, Paul and David attended the film’s premiere’s in both LA and London and some of our buddies actually got to interact with them there. Full reports can be found within these pages! For those of us who weren’t lucky enough to make the premieres, there was still a lot of coverage on TV. For a few weeks there it seemed like the boys were showing up everywhere! And many of us were able to take advantage of new Torino T-shirts issued through some major department stores.

We’ll definitely find time to talk about all the good and the bad that the new movie has engendered, along with all the other S&H related topics we can cram into three short days. We’re in a new hotel with more room. We’ll once again be having our EGPAF auction and our very first Art Show! And we’ll be having some special fun with tiny radio controlled cars in our version of Huggy’s Mouse Downs. Hope everyone brings their No-Doz, cause we’re all gonna need it.

The con zine is especially meaty this year, and the story quality is excellent! We got humor, drama, sexy stores, gen stories, non-fiction, some fun cartoons, a great logo, a few nifty art pieces, and another ridiculous Venice Place adventure put together by Flamingo and CrowRow. You’d think we’d know better by now. A big hug and a ton of appreciation to everyone who took the time and trouble to contribute to this great little zine.
